Principal's Message

Dear Parents and guardians,

It was lovely to see so many families join us in person or via Webex to celebrate the achievements our kids have worked so hard for.  Student led conferences are a great way for students to share their goals and success with their teachers and families and I know how much we enjoy meeting with you in our shared journey to support our students to grow and thrive.

There has been a lot of negative press in the media about NAPLAN results across Australia.  It’s important to remember that this is a totally new test and cannot be compared to previous results.  

What we can celebrate however is

• Victorian Grade 3 students achieved the highest results in the country for both reading and numeracy.
• Of the 20 tests across grades 3 and 5 and years 7 and 9, Victorian ranked first or second in 16, more than any other state or territory, and an improvement on the 2022 results when the equivalent figure was 12.
• Victoria's disadvantaged students achieved the highest mean scores in 19 of 20 measures compared to disadvantaged students in other jurisdictions. This includes all domains in the primary years. The mean score gaps between Victoria's disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students were the first or second smallest in Australia in 19 of 20 measures.

In our work we have seen a vast improvement in reading across the school.  It doesn’t mean that there isn’t more work to do, and we are all very busy strengthening our math learning this year so that our kids have the best keys to unlock their personal best and participate in life fully.
