Our students dived into the exciting world of photography, stop-motion animation, and filmmaking, exploring creativity, teamwork, and storytelling across all year levels.
Prep & Grade 1 – Stop-Motion Animations
Prep and Grade 1 students created characters and designed backgrounds using stop-motion studios to produce their own animations. They worked on simple storyboards, planned their sequences, and brought their stories to life through animation.
Grade 2 – Telling a Story with Pictures
Grade 2 students worked on creating simple photo stories. They planned sequences of images, considered the mood of each picture, and explored how angles and light affected the story their photos told.
Grade 3 – Advertisement Projects
Grade 3 students combined their creativity with props and storyboards to make their own advertisements promoting products. Each group took on roles such as voice-over, editor, camera crew, and actors, developing communication, teamwork, and digital literacy skills. Students shot and edited footage, learning how to plan, film, and produce their adverts collaboratively.
Year 4 – Photo Mood Hunt & Storybooks
Year 4 students went on a “Photo Mood Hunt,” capturing pictures that expressed different moods. They also began creating mini photo storybooks, combining their images into simple narratives. Along the way, they used key vocabulary like camera, angle shot, and mood to plan and discuss their work.
Year 5 – Mini Movie Trailers & Posters
Year 5 students stepped into the roles of Directors, Actors, and Camera Operators to film short movie trailers. They followed storyboards, learned how angles and camera techniques told a story, and designed promotional posters to share their trailers with others.
Year 6 – Short Film Planning & Promotion
Year 6 students worked on planning and editing short films with a clear message aimed at a specific audience. They created detailed storyboards, made creative editing decisions, and designed posters to effectively communicate the theme of their films. Students reflected on their choices to ensure their films clearly conveyed the intended message.
It was inspiring to see the creativity, collaboration, and storytelling skills of our students flourish across all year levels at Tarneit Rise Primary School!
