NSW CPS - Polding Girls Rugby League

On Friday the 24th October we have four of our students (Amelia Weston, Bo Brodrick, Lenci Zinga and Amali Spurr) venturing off to Darren Kennedy oval at Noraville to trial for the Polding Girls rugby league team.  We wish them all the best in this endeavour.

Bathurst Diocese Summer Sports Trials

Early this term students in Year 4 and Year 5 will be invited to trial at school for the Bathurst Diocesean Summer Sports (cricket, basketball, touch, softball and tennis).

The process that our School has when it comes to Diocesean Selection Trials is as follows.  Firstly, students in the correct age group are asked whether they wish to trial.  Those students then take a note home which requires both the student and parent to sign a code of conduct form. Once this has occurred, students are then invited to trial on specific dates. Reminders are regularly given to students at morning assemblies regarding upcoming trials.  Usually 2 or 3 trials occur (this is so if a student is away for a trial they have an opportunity to be seen at another time).  2/3 selectors will be involved in the trial and they then choose the students that fit the criteria set down by the diocese.  (see below)

Diocesean Rules

Expectation of Students Attending the Trials:

As this is a representative pathway trial the students must display a high standard of ability in their chosen sport to warrant being sent to the trials.  They should be involved in regular competition and have a sound knowledge of the rules of the game.

Number of Student school can send (maximum)

Tennis – 2 players (2 boys & 2 girls).

Other sports depending on enrolment figures:

1-50  - 1

50-100 - 1 to 2

100-200 - 2 to 3

200-300 - 4

300+ - 5 players.

Once selected the students take home the selection note.  Parents then register online via the CSNSW portal.  It is very important parents are aware not to register students prior to receiving the note from the school as they will be declined by the CEDB and CSNSW.  The Principal or delegate then approves the application of those students only who received notes.  Once this has been done the Sports Coordinator at the CEDB receives the registrations.

These trials are not school teams and students if selected do not play as a Catherine McAuley team, instead they are put through different skills and game scenarios on the day with students from all different schools.
