Year 6 Camp Rebate
Year 6 students from our school last week attended an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australia Government recognised the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards the costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
Year 5 Camp to Narrabeen
Last week, our Year 5 students had an incredible experience during their 3-day, 2-night camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation. They enthusiastically participated in a wide range of fun and engaging activities, including Archery Tag, Scootering, Bushwalking, Damper making, Raft Building, and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding—the latter quickly becoming the favourite among the group.
Throughout the camp, students developed valuable skills such as independence, resilience, cooperation, and problem-solving, particularly through the Team Challenge activities and Trivia Night. Their excellent behaviour and teamwork were consistently recognised and greatly appreciated. Beyond skill development, the camp significantly enhanced students’ overall wellbeing by promoting physical activity, boosting confidence, encouraging social connection, and providing a supportive environment away from the usual classroom setting.
These opportunities helped students build friendships, develop emotional resilience, and foster a positive sense of community. Overall, the camp was a memorable adventure that fostered personal growth and strengthened team spirit.

Year 4 Cockatoo Island Camp
It was a beautiful start to the day last Tuesday as the Year 4s gathered at Meadowbank Ferry Wharf. We were off to Cockatoo Island! Loaded up with pillows, sleeping bags and clothes for overnight, we boarded the ferry, ready for adventure with our friends.
Our first stop was Cockatoo Island to drop off our luggage and have our recess. We then caught the next ferry to Circular Quay and walked all the way up the hill to the Hyde Park Barracks. At the Barracks, we were taken on a tour to see convict artefacts and to try the convict hammocks. We also dressed as convicts and had fun following a plan to build the barracks with pretend bricks.
After lunch in Hyde Park, we caught the ferry back to Cockatoo Island. It was exciting finding our tents and playing with our friends. Not so exciting were the seagulls who tried to steal our dinner! At night time, some of us missed our families but our friends and teachers were there to reassure us. We all loved sleeping in the tent with our friends and waking up before the birds the next morning.
We worked in teams in the morning to complete a collage, a puppet, a paper model and a crossword before meeting our Cockatoo Island guide. Cockatoo Island has many old buildings and shipyards which we visited. It also has a great view of the harbour!
Sadly, we could only stay one night. We packed up our belongings and made our way to the wharf, catching the ferry back to Meadowbank to meet our parents. Our teachers were very proud of us when members of the public told them how well-behaved we were! Camp was a wonderful experience we will never forget.
