Hello everyone, and welcome to this edition of our fortnightly school newsletter.

Term 4 has kicked off beautifully, and it’s lovely to see the jacarandas in bloom and all of our young people back and flourishing. It was so exciting to drop down to Q Block last week and see our Year 12s in a Biology masterclass, learning, engaging with each other, and listening to their teacher as they prepare for their first external exam. This week, I really want to talk to you about what’s happening towards the end of the school year and give you a heads up so you can start planning with your young people and families.

Last year, Term 4 was an 11-week term, and we gained some valuable insights from that experience. We’re going to apply those learnings to Term 4 for 2025.

Parents, please note that the end of Week 8 will be the final week of teaching, learning, and assessment. From there, teachers will move into marking and report writing.

Week 9 will be our Celebration Week for Years 7, 8, and 9. During this week, students will participate in alternative activities such as the Sports Gala Day, where they’ll have the opportunity to compete and engage with other district schools at the Brendale Sports Centre.

Other year levels will be heading to Waterworld, while our Year 9s will enjoy their boat cruise celebration and dance. Look out for further information from your Heads of Year regarding those events.

Week 9 will also include our Year 6 Orientation Day and new teacher induction activities.

That brings us to Week 10, which will be a very productive time for our teachers. They’ll be engaging in intentional collaboration and planning to prepare curriculum and pedagogy for the start of 2026. Last year, this approach worked exceptionally well, helping the school start smoothly and positively, and we’re looking forward to building on that success.

During Week 10, we’ll run enhancement sessions for Years 7, 8, and 9. These sessions will give students the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities, some free, and others with a small user-pays fee. Attendance won’t be compulsory, but the school will remain open for students who need to attend, with structured activities available to ensure they finish the year strong.

I discussed this plan with our P&C this week, and they’re very supportive of the approach to finishing the year positively and purposefully.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or phone if you have any questions about how we’re wrapping up the school year.

All the best, lovely to connect with everyone, and thank you.
