End of Term 3 Special Mentions
Kaboom Sports Carnival
On Monday 15th September, our Foundation to Grade 2 students took to the tiger turf for their Kaboom Sports Carnival. An exciting middle session filled with colour, energy and plenty of movement! Although the weather brought strong winds, spirits remained high as students enthusiastically rotated through 10 fun and fast-paced tabloid-style stations.
With music playing and encouragement from our amazing Sports Captains, students worked together in teams to take on a range of creative physical challenges. From balancing and catching games and fast flying throws through monsters mouths, target throws and wheel of energy challenges, each activity was designed to build coordination, teamwork and a love of being active.
The Kaboom format, known for its inclusive and engaging style, ensured that every child had the chance to shine, no matter their skill level. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, cheering teammates on and celebrating each small success. A huge thank you to our Sports Captains for their leadership and to everyone who helped make the day such a memorable experience for our youngest students!

Hoop time
On Wednesday, 17th September, our 5/6s headed down to the State Basketball Centre for the Hoop Time Basketball Tournament. We had ten teams competing, and it was great to see all our students enjoying themselves out on the court. Each team played four games across the day, with many of our highlights coming from the Donvale v Donvale matches!
Well done to all students on a terrific day.

Cricket Clinic
During the final week of Term 3, after a special request from Max Moffat in 1/2A, St David's Cricket Club held two lunchtime clinics for Donvale students on the oval. Wednesday lunchtime saw 20 students join in for the senior school students cricket clinic. With 10 junior students spending their footy colours lunchtime, playing cricket gleefully.

Term 4
Term 4 Physical Education Overviews
This term in Foundation - Grade 2 PE, students will revisit the PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). With three terms of skill development behind them, students are now ready to engage with the program at a more advanced level, using their improved coordination, balance, and body awareness to take on new challenges. They will also revise and consolidate key ball-handling skills such as catching, throwing (underarm and overarm), and bouncing, along with movement-based skills including jumping, hopping, skipping, and leaping through dynamic circuit activities. Later in the term, students will enjoy participating in a mixture of mini games, obstacle courses and circus-themed sessions. Allowing for fun, creativity, and reflection.
This term also includes our five-day swimming program from Monday 17th to Friday 21st November, focusing on water safety, confidence, and basic stroke development. This program is run through Surrey Park Swimming at AquaLink BoxHill.
Our Grade 3-6 students will all have the opportunity to participate in the Bike Skills sessions, run by AusBike. These sessions are designed to equip students with the skills they need to be safe, confident riders, while also having fun. Students will also be involved in the swimming program (Grade 5/6s 5th-7th Nov || Grade 3/4s 17th-21st Nov), as well as swimming trials for the 2026 District Team (to be held on Wed 10th Dec). During our regular PE sessions, students will be focussing on their kicking skills with a Sherrin footy our on the oval, and we will finish off the year looking to develop our setting, digging and spiking skills with some volleyball.
A jam packed term of sport coming up!
Division Athletics - Thursday 9th October
Division Athletics saw 17 Donvale students head across to Bill Stewart Athletics Track in Burwood East, to compete against the best students in the area in a range of field and track events. All our students represented Donvale with great pride and tried their best in their given events. A special shoutout to Odin Douglas (1st in 200m) and Audre Lee (2nd in 200m), who have progressed to the Regional competition, to be held on Thursday, October 23rd. Good luck boys!

Bike Clinic
All Year 3/4 students took part in the first of four bike skills sessions this week, kicking off an exciting new program aimed at building confidence and safety on two wheels.
Thanks to Donvale Primary School’s Term 4 Sporting Schools grant, the program has been fully subsidised, making it free for all families. A fantastic initiative led by Mrs Wilkinson and Mr Rodger, especially as the warmer weather encourages more students to get outside and get riding!

Division Cricket
We are so proud of our 11 talented students from the Mixed Yellow 5/6 Round Robin cricket team, who have made it through to the Division Final!
They will represent our school at Serpell Primary School on Friday 17th October — an incredible achievement and a testament to their teamwork and dedication during our Summer Interschool season.
Mr Roger and Tanja will be coaching the team on the day. We wish the team the very best of luck — enjoy the experience and know that your school community is cheering you on all the way!
