Upcoming information - Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) is a time for all Australians to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
"All In" is the theme for the 2026 Reconciliation Week.
All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take actions that create change.
Reconciliation Australia CEO Karen Mundine reminded Australians that achieving reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights is not a passive activity.
‘Reconciliation isn’t the responsibility of First Nations peoples alone.
We have carried the weight of championing, explaining, and acting for far too long. The work that remains, requires all of us to join the reconciliation team,’ she said.
‘This call is not about guilt or shame but about the responsibility and reciprocity of being Australian. Reconciliation will not happen by itself, we must be all in for reconciliation.
In 2026, we need more than goodwill and spectators cheering from the sideline. We need to take actions that create a better society,’ she said.
At St John's our year 5/6 will participate in a reflection through a Catholic lens whilst at Camp Adanac on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Other learning opportunities and actions will take place throughout the week led by our FIRE carrier students. Please read the attached fact sheet to learn about National Reconciliation Week.
Please note that both Frankston City Council and Mornington Peninsula Council will be hosting free events that you may be intersted in attending.
Frankston City Council will host several events for National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June 2026) to promote conversation, art, and community connection. Key events include workshops with artist N'Dene Riley, a film screening, and a special Legal Centre event. There is also a movie night at Carrum Downs library.
On Monday June 1st at 9.15am, we welcome Majeba Beatty to St Jonhs for an Indigenous performance. Parents are welcome to join us in the hall. More details regarding this will follow.
