Hands On Learning

Hands On Learning has continued to tick along this term. We have missed a few sessions due to camp and curriculum days but this has not stopped the students from getting busy with some different jobs. We have begun to convert some of the dontated IBC's into garden beds and get them ready to fill and plant out. We have also been able to sort through our donation of timber and paint from Frank Wilde Events.
Our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle went really well with lots of families from across the school coming along to support us. We had a few of our Hands On Learning students also come along to help out on the day. We need to say a HHUUUUUUUGGGEEEEE THANK YOU to all the staff that came along to help out on the day, as well as to all the families that donated drinks or Coles vouchers to help us with the fundraising.
The money that we have raised will go right back into the program to help us buy the tools we need or to help us continue setting up our space.
The Hands On Learning precinct continues to develop throughout the year with shelving being built in the storage area of the container. We are also preparing to install a roller door in the side of the container to allow for safer and easier access for our Hands On Learning crew. As we have been working through all these tasks we have found some leaks (actually quite a few leaks) that have needed to be patched so Mr Holden and Mr Corcoran have been busy with the SikaFlex fixing these up as well. If you happen to be at Bunnings and pick up an extra tube of SikaFlex that you dont need, we will happily make use of it for you. Just drop it in to the office and let them know it's for Mr Holden.
If anyone has some old decking that they have pulled up (or are planning to pull up in the near future) that is still in reasonable condition that they would like to donate, please get in contact with Mr Holden as our next major project will be to create a dry outside area for the students to work.
