Celebrating Sport

School sports are crucial for promoting physical health and teamwork skills among students, fostering lifelong habits of exercise and cooperation. They also provide a platform for enhancing students' self-esteem, teamwork and personal growth. Recently, at assembly, we celebrated the fabulous sporting achievements that our students have been involved in so far this year. Mr Brown and the staff work together to ensure that all students from P-6 can participate in a variety of sporting activities. I would like to thank them for their coordinated efforts in building the Sporting profile of the Junior School and especially the efficient running of major sporting events throughout the year.

Mother's Day

We recently celebrated Mother’s and Significant Other's Day with a light breakfast and classroom visits - a heartwarming experience for everyone involved.  These gatherings really strengthen the sense of community and appreciation among students, parents and teachers. Keep an eye out for photographs that will be available in the coming weeks.

Wellbeing Toolkit: Commitment

Every week in the Junior School we have been focusing on building our students wellbeing toolkit with strategies that they can draw on to support them through life. This week, our wellbeing focus is on the character strength of ‘Commitment’. It refers to a person’s dedication, loyalty, and perseverance towards a particular task, goal or individual. The Junior School expectation focusses on ‘Respectful noise level around the school’.

Sir David Attenborough's Birthday

Sir David Attenborough's impersonator visited Pre-K and Years 5 and 6 on Friday in celebration of his 100th Birthday. Students learnt about his life and how he has changed the way the world sees nature. Sir David has not only written, presented and narrated some of the most influential wildlife documentaries but he has been a powerful voice on climate change and conservation.

The Term Ahead...

We have an exciting few weeks ahead with numerous activities and on the calendar, including; Year 6 da Vinci Decathlon team competing in the State finals at Knox Grammar School, Bell Shakespeare performing for Years 3-5 and Pre-Kinder exploring the wonderful world of Bees. These experiences provide wonderful opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and find joy in their everyday lives.

Interschool opportunities support our students and staff in fostering relationships, collaboration and the sharing of skills. This term Kinross Wolaroi Junior School will host Orange Anglican School and Orange Christian School for the Stage 3 Interschools Debating challenge, coordinated by Miss Emma Caruana. We enjoy welcoming students and staff from these schools to participate in engaging community events and look forward to continuing these partnerships in the future.

Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day & Performing Arts Evening

On Thursday, 11 June the Junior School will be hosting the annual Performing Arts Evening in the DPA beginning at 5:30pm. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be performing in this fabulous showcase of talent. This is a whole-school event and a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to enjoy a variety of entertainment. Prior to our Performing Arts evening, Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to attend open classrooms and a light afternoon tea with their grandchildren.
