A Positive and Purposeful Start to the Winter Sports Season

It has been wonderful to see the winter sports season in full swing and off to such a positive start. Across all codes, there has been a strong sense of energy, participation and enthusiasm, with students embracing the opportunity to train, compete and represent the School with pride.

What has stood out most in the opening weeks has been the spirit in which our students are approaching their sport. Whether on the field, court or sidelines, many students are demonstrating a genuine commitment to teamwork, perseverance and respect for others. It has been particularly pleasing to see students supporting their peers, cheering positively, encouraging one another and contributing to an atmosphere that reflects a strong sense of belonging within our community.

Our senior students deserve special recognition for the leadership they are showing. Through their conduct, effort and attitude, they are modelling the importance of responsibility and positive role‑modelling, both in play and in how they carry themselves beyond the game itself. Their actions set the tone for younger students and reinforce the standards we expect across all areas of school life.

As the season progresses, we remind all players and spectators of the importance of good sportsmanship. Respect for referees, opponents, coaches and teammates is essential, and support from the sidelines should always reflect courtesy, fairness and self‑control - even in competitive moments.

Students are also reminded of the importance of wearing the correct sports uniform when participating in fixtures and when attending as spectators. Wearing our uniform correctly demonstrates pride in our School and respect for the teams representing it.

National Boarding Week – “Echoes of Home”

This week we proudly celebrate National Boarding Week 2026, guided by the theme “Echoes of Home.” The theme recognises that while boarding students live away from home, the values, traditions, relationships and sense of identity that shape them continue to echo strongly through boarding life each day.

With more than 300 boarders in Years 7–12, boarding is central to the fabric of Kinross Wolaroi School and plays a vital role in fostering connection, belonging and community across our campus. Throughout the week, our boarders have participated in a number of activities designed to foster relationships and strengthen a sense of belonging within the boarding community.

National Boarding Week also provided an important opportunity to acknowledge and thank our boarding house leaders and staff. Our Directors of Boarding, Heads of House, Housemothers, Supervisors and support staff work tirelessly to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for our students, seven days a week. Their commitment ensures our boarding houses truly feel like a home away from home.

We thank our boarding students for the energy, leadership and spirit they bring to our community, and our boarding staff for the dedication and care that make boarding at Kinross Wolaroi such a defining and valued part of school life.
