FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of St Nicholas’,

This week, our school community joins with Catholic schools across the Diocese of Armidale to celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2026! It is a wonderful time of year where we pause to appreciate the unique, vibrant, and faith-filled community we share at St Nicholas School.

At St Nicholas’, our daily mission is guided by a commitment to the holistic growth of every child. Through our Living Well, Learning Well framework, we continuously strive to foster an environment built on an unconditional positive regard for our young people, ensuring our school is a safe, productive, and truly inclusive community.

As a Catholic learning community, we are always exploring ways to live out our faith through words and actions. An example of how this is achieved is through our our Rules for Living, which serve as our foundation for how we interact, learn, and grow together:

  • I am safe: Knowing how we are kept safe, and how we keep others safe.
  • I am valued, respected, and cared for: Recognizing our own worth and extending that same profound consideration to everyone in our community.
  • I am a learner: Supporting our own academic growth, encouraging our peers, and respecting the dedication of our wonderful teachers.
  •

Catholic Schools Week is the perfect opportunity to see these values in action. It is a celebration of the partnership between our dedicated staff team, our supportive families, and the wider parish community—all working together as skilled, helpful adults to uplift the learning, wellbeing, and faith development of our children.

Some for the activities our staff and students have been involved in this week to celebrate Catholic Schools Week are:

  • Tuesday - Our Year 5 students attended the Southern Deanery Mass celebrated by the Bishop at St Nicholas Church.
  • Wednesday - Some of our Primary students attended a Chess Competition Day at St Edwards.
  • Thursday - Our Year 6 students travelled out to the Sports Dome to participate in a Combined Schools Sports Day.
  • Friday - Unfortunately the Gary McSweeney Cup for Rugby Union was postponed due to the rain and will be held next Friday.
  • Family Mass this Sunday - It would be wonderful to see as many families as possible at our Family Mass this Sunday to celebrate the end of Catholic Schools Week.

We are incredibly grateful for the trust you place in us every day to partner in your child’s educational and spiritual journey.

Term Two Parent Teacher Interviews

Parents are now able to book their parent/teacher interviews through Compass. These interviews will take place in weeks 9 and 10. Please note these interviews are no longer student-led, they are run by the teacher and outline student learning progress across Semester 1 and goals to work towards for Semester 2.

Have a wonderful week,

Peter Flynn
