National Reconciliation Week liturgy
As part of National Reconciliation Week, we warmly invite families to join us for a special liturgy on Wednesday 3 June at 2:30pm in the School Hall. This gathering will provide an opportunity for our community to reflect on and pray for our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, justice, and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are also pleased to share the Acknowledgement of Country that will be used at all future Holy Rosary events. We are proud of the learning and reflection undertaken by our students as they explored the importance of acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather. Drawing on this knowledge, they have helped create an Acknowledgement of Country that reflects our school's values, our Mercy tradition, and our commitment to reconciliation. Thank you also for the feedback we received from families in relation to our Acknowledgement of Country. We feel that this reflects our whole community.
We acknowledge and say thank you
to the Traditional Owners of this land where Holy Rosary school and Church is located,
the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We thank them for taking care of this land;
the rivers, the trees, the animals and the sky and we promise to cherish this country and be kind to all people who walk on this Earth.
As a Mercy community, inspired by the values of compassion, justice and service, we commit ourselves to walking together in respect and reconciliation to help build a more just and hopeful future for all.
We pay our respects to the Elders past and present, and extend that respect to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people here with us today. Thank you for sharing your stories and knowledge with us so that we may honour the past, strengthen the present and work together for a better future.
