Semester 1 Sport

It has been a fantastic first semester for the school and students representing the school at the interschool sports tournaments. Across Terms 2 we had a number of teams take part in different sports.

The Senior Girls and Boys AFL represented Sunbury College on 17 June. Unfortunately, boys' team lost in a incredible and close game to Gisborne Secondary College. The Senior Girls did manage to secure the win against Gisborne Secondary College and will head to Western Metro this term. Our Junior AFL teams had a great showing for both the Girls and Boys. The Year 7 Boys team has progressed to the division final this term with hopes to progress to the WMR semis.

Our Senior Basketball teams demonstrated some amazing skills and performed well at the division but unfortunately just missed out on progressing through. Along with this the Year 7 and 8 Girls netball teams performed well at the region netball tournament and have progressed through to the WMR finals this term.

Our cross-country runner had an excellent show at the division competition with 15 runners qualifying for Western Metro. Everyone ran exceptionally well and saw 6 of our student’s progress through to the state finals! Congratulations.

Athletics Carnival

On 25 May we hosted our annual Sunbury College athletics carnival at Keilor Athletics Club. It was a wonderful day of competition and fun. We had some amazing results and enthusiasm for both the track and field events. Charlotte Nichols of Year 9 brokw a long standing school record in the 15 year old girls' shotput event, throwing an impressive 10.40m.

The staff vs students relay was a great highlight of the day with the Year 12 student team taking the win. We thankfully missed the rain and everyone remained dry. Big congratulations to Clarke for taking out the win for the day!
