Principal Team's Message

Our Assistant Principals reflect on Term Two

As our second term of the year comes to an end, we’d like to thank all members of the Sunbury College community for the many successful events and opportunities that have been provided over the last ten weeks. As in other years, the Athletics Carnival earlier in the term was a great day showcasing the wonderful talent of our students. Students in the Game Changers program have enjoyed a number of exciting excursions to local businesses and primary schools, and worked closely with Year 12 VCE VM students who assumed the role of peer mentors. Our Year 11 Formal on 12 June was well attended, and a great night had by all. It is with great pride that we celebrate how much has been achieved in 2026 so far.

Work Experience

From 9-19 June, Year 10 students completed their work experience placements across a number of sectors. Students have returned to school excited about their learning and how this will support them as they pursue their future career planning. Thank you to Thomas Rye, Madeleine Debney and Brie Berzins for supporting the students to secure placements and complete the necessary Occupational Health and Safety modules. We’d also like to acknowledge the staff who visited the students and gathered feedback on their experience - this is an important aspect that contributes to the strength of our work experience program.

Year 10 and 11 Exams

A big congratulations to all Year 10 and 11 students who completed their exams earlier this term. The attendance and behaviour were exceptional; these exams provide important opportunities for students to develop study skills and exam performance preparation ready for future exams.

Thank you to the Middle and Senior Sub Schools and the teachers of Year 11 and 10 for their efforts to ensure the exams ran smoothly.

VCE VM Information Evening

Thank you to the Year 10 students and their parents and carers who attended the VCE VM Information night held on Wednesday 24 June. Making informed decisions about subjects and future pathways is a significant part of the career planning process; Sunbury College’s Careers and Pathways team work closely with students, their families, and the Middle and Senior Sub Schools to support this to happen. Course counselling will take place early in Term 3 - students should refer to the information provided at the information night when making choices for 2027.

Principal's Awards

Our Principal's Awards Ceremony was also held on 24 June to recognise and celebrate students who consistently demonstrated excellent work habits in their learning throughout Semester 1. Principal's Awards were presented to students who received an average work habit rating of 3.90 or above. Elite Principal's Awards were presented to those who received a Work Habit Rating of 4.0 for all three Work Habit cycles.

This event celebrates the hard work of our students each and every day at the school and reinforces the high expectations we have for all of our students at Sunbury College. It was great to see so many students from across the school being recognised for their continued endeavour and commitment to their learning.

Semester Reports

Semester reports will be published on Friday 26 June and made available to families via Compass. These reports provide an overview of student achievement against the Victorian Curriculum, as well as performance on assessment tasks using the Sunbury College Universal Grading System. Families are encouraged to review the reports with their child and use them as an opportunity to celebrate progress, reflect on areas for improvement and discuss learning goals for Semester 2. Due to industrial action and protected action during Semester 1, improvement comments and feedback relating to subject-specific skills and work habits may be unavailable in many cases.

Year 10 - 12 PST interviews

Sunbury College will be holding upcoming Parent Student Teacher Interviews for Year 10 Science, Maths and English, as well as VCE and VCE VM subjects (Year 10 - 12). These interviews will take place face to face at Sunbury College on Tuesday 21 July, from 3:45pm to 7:45pm. This is an important opportunity for families, students and teachers to discuss student progress, learning goals and strategies for continued success. Bookings can be made via Compass.

We wish all students and their families the very best over the upcoming school holidays, and look forward to Term 3 which begins Monday 20 July.

Warm regards,

Becky Annetts, John Lane, Chris O’Brien and Fiona Scott-Young
