A message from our Principal

Dear Sunbury College community,

The conclusion of Term 2 provides an opportunity to celebrate the many achievements of our students and acknowledge the strong partnerships between our staff, families, and the wider community that contribute to learning at Sunbury College.

A particular highlight has been our Year 10 Work Experience Program. Congratulations to all Year 10 students who recently completed two weeks of work experience. This valuable opportunity enabled students to gain firsthand insight into a diverse range of professions and workplaces, helping them develop confidence, workplace skills and a deeper understanding of potential career pathways.

I would also like to sincerely thank the many businesses, organisations and community members who generously hosted our students. With more than 160 placements secured across Sunbury and surrounding areas, the support of our local community has provided meaningful learning experiences that will have a lasting impact on our young people.

As students begin considering their senior secondary pathways, it is important to recognise the exciting opportunities emerging in the world of work. Industries such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, medical technologies, robotics and data analytics are growing rapidly and creating careers that will shape our future. The STEM Industry Pathways graphic included in this newsletter highlights just some of the diverse opportunities available to today's students.

Whether students pursue university studies, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships or direct employment following Year 12, our goal is to equip them with the knowledge, skills and adaptability needed to thrive in a changing world. Through strong partnerships between school, families and our community, we are preparing students not only for further education, but for successful and fulfilling futures.

With this being our final newsletter for Term 2, I would like to thank all families for your ongoing support of our school throughout the semester. I wish all students, families, and staff a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning in Term 3.

Best wishes,

Craig O'Bree
