Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers,

What an incredible experience for our Year 5 students. Last week, they travelled to Ballarat and stepped back in time to the 1850's for an unforgettable few days at Sovereign Hill. From panning for gold and trying on period costumes to immersing themselves in life during the Gold Rush era, the students threw themselves into every moment with enthusiasm and curiosity.

A huge thank you to Ms Callahan, Ms Cumming, and trainee Charlie Seuren for organising such a wonderful and enriching experience. Thank you also to parent volunteers Anna Melville, Stephanie Ryan, and Daniel Walsh; your time and support made the trip possible and are greatly appreciated.

The memories made at this camp will no doubt stay with our students for years to come!

Assessment Conversations

It has been great seeing so many parents coming in for Assessment Conversations over the last couple of days.  Assessment Conversations are a great way to catch up with the child’s teacher, and it has been so nice to see the children having the opportunity to proudly show their parents what they have been working on and to talk through their goals with their parents and teacher. These Assessment conversations will continue for this week and next for some classes.

Personal Electronic Devices at School

As a reminder, students are not permitted to use personal mobile phones or devices during school hours, this includes when a student is waiting for a bus, or a parent/guardian pick up from gym gate/prep gate etc. If a phone is brought to school, it must remain switched off in their school bag, or be handed to their classroom teacher for safekeeping.

Students wearing smartwatches must set them to School Mode to disable messaging, calls, internet, and apps.

If your child needs to contact you during the day, please direct them to speak with their teacher, and we will arrange a call through the school office. Similarly, if you need to get a message to your child, please contact us directly.

Thank you for your support in keeping our school a safe and focused place to learn.

A reminder to parents- After school training (Netball and Basketball)

Siblings of students participating in netball training and basketball training (Term 3) on the school grounds are not supervised during these sessions, as training takes place outside of school hours. For their safety, we kindly request that a parent or guardian supervise children when they are on school grounds during this time. Thank you for your understanding and support.

To mark the end of the term, each child will enjoy a hot dog lunch with a drink provided, There will be no lunch orders on this day. The school day will finish at 2:25 pm.

It promises to be a wonderful day of celebration, community, and fun!

Online payments made to Sacred Heart

Please see below the response from our bank regarding name for online payments:

Payment Display Notice: New Security Feature

Important Information for Online Payments

Across Australia, major Banks are implementing ‘Confirmation of Payee’ – a new security system that displays the legal account holder name to help prevent payment fraud. When you make payments to any parish, school or Catholic entity that has an account with CDF, your statement and payment screen will now display the legal name for the CDF account rather than the name of the parish or school.

This legal name is: ‘Archdiocese of Melbourne Catholic Development Fund’.

What this means for you?

While your specific parish, school, or entity name may not appear on the payment page, you can still use the familiar name (e.g., a parish name) when making payments.

Rest assured, this is to be expected, and your payment will reach the correct destination.

Following the Diocese of Ballarat CDF merger, Ballarat client accounts are now included under the new legal name ‘Archdiocese of Melbourne Catholic Development Fund’ with our banking partner.

This is a normal security feature, and your payment is still legitimate and secure.

Kind regards,

Karl Dwyer
