Reconciliation Week

This week we mark reconciliation week, a special time for all Australians to learn about our shared history and to celebrate the culture and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples.  It is an opportunity for our community to think about how we can work together to create a fairer, more respectful future. 

It was great to see our whole school wear red, yellow and black on Monday, coming together to create the Aboriginal flag on our basketball court.  Students will participate in lessons throughout the week, exploring this year's them 'All In', a rallying call for us to all commit to reconciliation not just this week, but every day.  We are grateful to our student RAP who have led this work, supported by our dedicated staff. 

Visible Wellbeing - Spotting our Character Strengths

This year, we are excited to be implementing the Visible Wellbeing SEARCH Framework — an evidence-based approach to building positive mental health, resilience and happiness across our whole school community.

We have begun with the Strengths Pathway, where students are developing a deep understanding of 24 universal VIA Character Strengths. Each week, one strength is unpacked in class, giving students the language and awareness to recognise it in themselves and others. Alongside this, both students and staff are practising strength spotting every day — noticing and naming the good they see in those around them. These small, consistent actions are at the heart of building a positive and healthy school culture.

Last week, our community focused on Kindness — noticing the acts of care and generosity across classrooms and the playground. This week, we turn our attention to Bravery, celebrating the courage it takes to try new things, speak up and persist through challenges.

Throughout the remainder of 2026, keep an eye out as we explore all 24 VIA Character Strengths together. You may like to join the conversation at home — ask your child which strength they spotted today.

School Disco

Congratulations to everyone who made last Friday's school disco such a brilliant success. The dance floor was full of energy, laughter and some outstanding moves — it was a wonderful evening from start to finish. I am continually impressed by how our students use our values across all aspects of school life.

A huge thank you to our Parents and Friends for their organisation, and to every volunteer who generously gave their time to make the night run so smoothly. Your effort and dedication does not go unnoticed.

Our Neighbour's Bins

Monday is our neighbour's bin day at BNPS. A gentle reminder that if you do need to move a bin when you park in the morning, to please move it back to ensure it is collected. We value the positive relationships we have with our neighbours, and thank you for this courtesy.
