Principal Class Report

ALERT FOR ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS
LPS has received an increase of emails relative to road safety concerns around LPS.
Please be aware that the school does NOT have jurisdiction for community behaviour on roads and should not approach any community member to inform them of their behaviour.
We continue to witness some startling behaviours of road users, including:
- dangerous u-turns
- double parking, including parking on nature strips and blocking driveways
- parking in designated areas for longer than stipulated
- speeding
- dangerous use of electronic scooters
All of these behaviours have been officially reported to the authorities. As such, there will be regular patrols.
Please be forewarned that speeding, illegal parking and dangerous behaviour will be addressed by authorities, which may result in fines and loss of demerit points.
The safety of each and every human that accesses the school is paramount - most importantly the children.
Mobile Phones and wearable devices @LPS
The Mobile Phone (and wearable devices) Policy outlines the requirements of the Minister for Education relating to students using mobile phones during school hours.
Students who bring a mobile phone or wearable device to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours.
This policy applies to:
- All students at LPS and,
- Students’ personal mobile phones [and other personal mobile devices] brought onto school premises during school hours, including recess and lunchtime.
For the purpose of this policy, a mobile phone is a telephone with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system, with or without a physical connection to a network.
LPS provides secure storage at the front office.
Ninety seven LPS families have signed the Mobile Phone policy agreement. Although some families have signed this indicating an understanding of the policy only, some families have signed for their child/ren to bring a device to school. Only 5 - 10 students consistently bring their phone or wearable device to school and store it at the front office. This is a very small amount for a school our size.
Can families please ensure that all mobile phones or wearable devices bought from home are housed at the front office everyday.

Upcoming Student Reports
The recent industrial action will have some impact on the upcoming student mid year reports. The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will NOT be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union. The LPS Semester 1 reports will be distributed in the final week of Term 2. We will of course be pleased to discuss your child’s progress at our next parent-teacher interviews scheduled for Tuesday 28th July 2026.
We thank you for your oncoming support.
We can all make a difference
Our current focus at LPS is challenging and explicitly addressing reports of bullying and racism by:
- Leading by example by promoting accountability, respect and inclusion
- Addressing bullying and racism directly through clear expectations and appropriate consequences
- Building awareness of microaggressions and microinsults so students understand how words and actions can impact others
- Encouraging students to be upstanders, not bystanders, by speaking up when behaviour causes harm
- Ensuring every voice matters, so all members of our school feel valued, respected and that they belong.
