Music at Homestead

Music in Semester 1 

It has been an exciting and busy period for our music students, who recently had the opportunity to perform across three different live music events and take part in an audio technology workshop. These experiences gave students valuable opportunities to develop their confidence, musicianship, technical skills and understanding of the live music industry.

The first performance was a relaxed café gig, where students created a warm and welcoming atmosphere through a range of live music performances. This was a fantastic opportunity for performers to share their work in a more intimate setting and experience what it is like to provide music within a public space.

Students also took part in a lunchtime gig at school which was all about high-energy! The performance gave students the chance to showcase their talents in front of a supportive live audience. We had covers of Linkin Park, Paramore, Jeff Buckley, Kelly Clarkson, Queen and more!

A major highlight was the FREEZA/Paradox gig, held by Wyndham City Council, featuring 7 Pound Halo as the performers. This event gave students the chance to experience a pro youth music event. 7 Pound Halo delivered an engaging performance that had all of the students wanting more.

In addition to the performances, the Year 10 Music students participated in an audio technology workshop with FREEZA, where they explored key skills connected to live sound and event preparation. This workshop gave students valuable insight into the technical side of the music industry and helped them understand the important role that sound and production play in live performance.
