House Spirit Runs High
Over the past two weeks, our girls have taken part in one of the most anticipated events on the sporting calendar, the House Sport Matches.
The Senior teams kicked things off with Touch Football and Netball, showing great determination and resilience as they battled through less-than-ideal weather conditions to complete all of their matches. Their enthusiasm and house pride were on full display throughout the competition.
The Junior teams took to the field and court the following week and were fortunate to enjoy sunny conditions. They embraced the opportunity with energy and excitement, demonstrating excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and house spirit across all matches.
The House games concluded on Wednesday with both junior and senior players taking part in a three-round soccer tournament. The house teams consisted of players across all senior year levels, so it was great to see different girls collaborating, encouraging and supporting each other. This contributed to the positive and inclusive environment that was evident to see among the girls!
A huge congratulations to all students who participated and represented their houses so proudly. We will now submit the results and eagerly await the announcement of the 2025/2026 Angus Cup winner!

Senior A Netball Team Wins the Grand Final Replay Match
The Senior A Netball team has enjoyed an outstanding start to the season. For the first time in the school's club netball history, the girls are competing in the A3 Open Division and have risen to the challenge impressively. The team remains undefeated and is playing some of its best netball to date.
Under the guidance of coach Mia Baggett, a highly accomplished player herself, the team has continued to develop and thrive. Although the girls train just once a week, they make every session count, bringing commitment, focus and determination to every training.
On Saturday 30 May, the team faced KRB in a highly anticipated Grand Final replay from last season. With both teams entering the match undefeated, it promised to be a tough contest. Unfortunately, due to a washout the previous week, only half a game could be played. Despite the shortened match our girls dominated from start to finish, delivering a confident performance and securing an impressive victory over their rivals.
The team also recently participated in training matches against St Cath's and will take part in another friendly against KRB in the coming weeks. These additional match play opportunities, combined with quality training sessions, continue to be a valuable part of the team's development and success.
Congratulations to the Senior A team on their fantastic start to the season. We look forward to watching their continued success throughout the competition.

Round 5 - Basketball and Soccer
Round 5 saw the Kambala 1, 4 and 5 Basketball teams, along with the Kambala 2 Soccer team, make the journey down to Frensham School in Mittagong. Despite the freezing temperatures and challenging conditions, all girls played with great energy, positivity and school spirit.
A special thank you to all those who made the trip, especially the parents who helped with transport and ensured students could participate! The remaining basketball and soccer games were held at Sydney University and E.S. Marks respectively, and although every team may not have won, all teams demonstrated the skills, knowledge and teamwork they have been working hard to develop at training. Well done all!
Eliza Vale
Sport Administrator
Our First K-Talk Senior School
We're kicking off the series on Thursday 18 June at lunch time in the Lecture Theatre with an incredible AFLW panel featuring Kambala's own Sports Administrator and former AFLW player Eliza Vale, joined by current AFLW stars Sarah Steele Park and Laura Gardiner.
Together, they will share their journeys to the AFLW, discussing the challenges they've overcome, the setbacks they've faced and the determination that helped them achieve their goals. Students will gain a unique behind the scenes perspective on life as an elite athlete and the mindset required to succeed at the highest level.
Bio of each speaker:
Eliza’s sporting journey began when she was the only girl playing Auskick at 5 years old. Although she enjoyed a range of sports growing up, AFL was always her greatest passion. She played in representative and state teams throughout her youth, then went on to play in the VFLW competition for two years. After winning the best and fairest for this team, she was then drafted to the Sydney Swans AFLW team in 2021. She spent three years there, before moving back home to Melbourne to complete her university degree. She now works with us as our new sports administrator who some of you would be familiar with!
Laura Gardiner started playing AFL when she was 13 years old at a local club in Geelong, Victoria. She continued through the talent pathway and was drafted to the Geelong Cats at 18 years old, with pick 20 in the 2020 AFLW draft. She spent three seasons here, before seeking a trade to Sydney Swans, and is now entering her fourth season with the team. At only 23 years old, she has already had an extremely decorated career. She earned a selection in the All-Australian team in 2023 and has won two best and fairest awards for the Sydney Swans. She is a true star of the AFLW competition!
Sarah Steele-Park is in her second season with the Swans. After growing up in Orange NSW, she has played in various state leagues across the country while working as a secondary school teacher. She was drafted to the Swans at the end of 2025, after being the team’s runner and train-on player the previous year. She is a reliable utility player for the team, and she earned her debut for the team last year in Round 7, 2025. She may also be a familiar face as she does casual relief teaching here at Kambala!
Join us at lunch time on Thursday 18 June in the Lecture Theatre. Bring your lunch and come and listen to our first speakers.
