"All In" for Reconciliation Week at Hampshire House

This week at our Hampshire House children were ‘All In’ in celebrating National Reconciliation week. This year’s theme encourages us all to work together, listen, share and learn about different ways to care for the land, tell stories, and look after one another. Understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures from an early age, builds greater empathy, cultural awareness and a deeper appreciation for diversity within our children.

At Hampshire House we embed this learning into everyday practices rather than treating it as a one-off event. This includes incorporating Indigenous perspectives across our day-to-day programs. This helps to foster pride in our shared history and develops a living commitment to build connections.

The children engaged in many wonderful activities drawn from the natural materials they have collected from our Indigenous Garden and  their foreshore walks. It was wonderful observing them working so collaboratively on their murals and collages using pressed leaves and bright paint. The children also enjoyed the sensory task of printing indigenous symbols onto soft clay to tell stories. This allowed the children to discover and learn about simple Indigenous symbols, such as circles for meeting places and wavy lines for rivers. 

The children enjoyed feeling the clay in their hands and seeing the beautiful patterns appear. It was a lovely way for the children to connect with Country through creative expression and respectful exploration.

We also enjoyed listening to dreamtime music and stories as we worked and talking about how we can be “All In” by being good friends and caring for country, as we work to build respect, understanding and a shared responsibility for the future.

Whole School Survey- Response Time Extended

In support of our school improvement process, Kambala has provided an opportunity for parents (Hampshire House to Year 12) and students (Year 5 - Year 12) to provide feedback relating to their views of the school across a number of areas.

Last week MMG Education invited parents to complete a questionnaire,  which remains open until Sunday 14 June 2026. The Senior School students will be completing their questionnaire today. 

At the conclusion of the research period, MMG will provide Principal Danvers with a report. There will be opportunities for members of the school community to receive feedback from the research.
