Faith and Family Matters

Almsgiving
Almsgiving invites us to open our hearts. When we give—whether it’s money, time, kindness, or attention—we become part of God’s work in the world. We become the hands that lift someone up, the smile that restores hope, the quiet blessing someone has been praying for. Every act of generosity, no matter how small, says: “I see you. You matter. You are loved.”
Almsgiving is not about how much we have, but how willing we are to share what we have. It nudges us to look beyond ourselves and recognise the needs around us: a classmate who feels alone, a family struggling silently, a community far from home.
When we give:
- We grow in compassion.
- We lighten someone’s burden.
- We become more like Christ, who poured out His life for others.
This Lent (and always) let us notice those who need help and respond with generous hearts. Because every time we give, we make God’s love visible. Let’s choose kindness! Let’s choose generosity! Let’s choose almsgiving!
We’re Crazy for Caritas!
Congratulations to our wonderful Holy Family community! Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to share have made a real difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in need. Because of your kindness, we have raised an amazing $2,416.25 for Caritas Australia! Every coin, every note, every act of giving has helped us stand in solidarity with communities who need our support the most. Together, we have shown what it truly means to live out the Gospel message of love, justice, and hope. Thank you for opening your hearts. Thank you for giving from what you have. Thank you for showing that when we work together, we can change lives.
Your generosity truly shines, Holy Family! May God bless you all.
An Invitation to join us in prayer -
Please join us as we pause, reflect, and pray together. Everyone is invited to pray the Stations of the Cross with our school community in MacKillop Hall on Monday, 30th March at 9:00am.
We hope you can join us.
Kind regards

The "Domestic Church"
Brigid Faure (parent in Year 2) sent me this email about the "Lent in a Bag" sent to all families last week. I thought I would share it to encourage other parents in your beautiful role as the first faith educators of your children. How is your family using the bag?
"We have placed our Project Compassion box in pride of place at home, and it has already sparked some lovely conversations. Giselle has been especially keen to find extra chores around the house so she can earn money to put into the box!
The acts kindness challenge is on our fridge, and Giselle is enjoying colouring in the boxes. It’s been a beautiful daily reminder of the small acts of kindness we can do for others. We’ve also enjoyed spending time together making meals and reflecting on how sharing what we have can truly make a difference."
If anyone else has a lovely story to share like the one above, please feel free to email me!
