Focus of the Week
This Week We Are Focusing On…
At school this week, we are shining a light on four important areas of learning and wellbeing. Each supports our students to grow as learners and as kind, confident members of our community. Read through this and try to use this language at home this week.
PBL Focus: Good Manners
We are encouraging students to show respectful behaviour through everyday manners.
Practical examples include:
- Using polite words such as please, thank you, excuse me, and sorry.
- Waiting their turn to speak and listening respectfully to others.
- Holding doors open, offering help, and showing gratitude.
Leader in Me Habit: Think Win‑Win
Students are learning how to find solutions where everyone benefits.
Practical examples include:
- Sharing playground equipment fairly so everyone gets a turn.
- Working with a partner in class and making decisions together.
- Using calm words to solve conflicts so both sides feel heard and respected.
Friendology Focus: Use Your Friendship Builders
We are revisiting the skills that help us create strong, healthy friendships.
Practical examples include:
- Being honest and keeping promises.
- Including others in games and conversations.
- Speaking kindly, giving compliments, and repairing friendships after problems.
Catholic Value: Joy
Our value this fortnight is Joy, finding happiness in our relationships, learning, and God’s presence in our lives.
Practical examples include:
- Celebrating others’ successes with a happy heart.
- Bringing a positive attitude to the classroom.
- Finding moments of gratitude each day and sharing joy with others through kindness.
Rain Rain go Away!!
This week everyone was really excited for cross country, but just like last time it ended up being cancelled again. which was pretty disappointing because so many of us were looking forward to finally running it. Luckily next Tuesday on the 24th March we should be able to have our cross country at last, and instead of going to the park near the school we’re going to stay here and run it on school grounds. which might actually make it more fun because everyone can cheer each other on. We’re all hoping the weather behaves this time and it doesn’t start raining again because after two cancellations we’re definitely ready to run. A huge thank‑you to everyone for being patient, and an extra shout‑out to Mrs Gibbs for keeping the dates updated even though the weather keeps messing things up so cross your fingers for good weather!

Today, Holy Family welcomed Mrs Murray, the Principal of Mercy Catholic College. All girls from Year 2 to Year 6 gathered in the Year 5 classroom for the presentation. Mrs Murray spoke to the students about Mercy Catholic College, outlining the school’s values, learning environment, and the opportunities available to students as they move into their secondary years. She provided an overview of the academic programs, co‑curricular activities, and the supportive community the school aims to foster. The session gave students and staff a helpful insight into what Mercy Catholic College offers for future education pathways.

For this week’s Tech Time, we are proud to highlight our Kindergarten students, who after just eight weeks at school are already confidently using iPads in their learning. Their ability to focus, adapt, and quickly develop new skills reflects their strong enthusiasm for learning. This progress has been made possible through the dedication and support of their teachers, who have guided them with patience and encouragement. Together, they have created a positive environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for future learning.
