Principal's Report

On Tuesday 10 March over 500 people visited Nazareth College for our annual open day. This was the largest number of visitors we have had in many years, reflective of the growing student numbers at the College and the reality that Nazareth is a school of choice.  As we continue to grow as a school of opportunity, with such a breadth of subjects and extracurricular activities, it is fantastic to be able to open the school to people to come and have a look at our school in action, with practical classes, performances and sporting training sessions.  We are very grateful for the generosity of all our staff attending this open day and in particular to Ms Jerry Penny our Marketing Manager, for her coordination of the open day.  If you know people who are interested in a position or if you have children of your own interested in a future position, please get in touch with our College Registrar.

The term has gone by very quickly as is often the case for Term 1.  In our liturgical calendar, we are moving rapidly towards the high point of the year with Holy Week.  Lent is a time that encourages reflection on our lives and decisions for growth closer to Our Lord. Our Gospel last Sunday told of Jesus healing the blind man.  None of us sees things as God does and we all have some blind spots that need healing.  As we journey through the last weeks of the term and Lent, we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as individuals and as a community to continue to grow closer to God and to be healed, so that we can see things more as God does, with a purer vision.

Our student progress meetings are approaching on Wednesday 1 April and Thursday 2 April and bookings times will open on 28 March.  We so often talk about the partnership between the school and the families and the importance of working together and communicating.  Student Progress Meetings take place once a semester and are a great opportunity to speak to teachers and get personal feedback for your child.  We strongly encourage all families to attend and look forward to seeing you at the student progress meetings.

With the House Swimming Carnival later this week and the Year 7 camp next week, it is another busy time at the College.  Keeping in mind our 2026 college theme of Gratitude, we give thanks to God for the blessing of being part of this community and for all the opportunities we have to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge.
