2026 Theme for Wollert Primary School: Empowerment

Dear Wollert Primary School Families,
I would like to congratulate all the Year 3 and Year 5 students who participated in the NAPLAN testing over the past week, as well as the staff who supported them during this nationwide assessment. It was also wonderful to see families, students, and teachers engage in the recent Meet the Teacher interviews. These conversations focused on our learners and helped to foster a strong learning partnership at Wollert PS, reflecting our philosophy of 'Aspirations without Limitations' for growth and development.
Just a reminder to have your dance shoes ready for our school disco next Thursday, March 26th. We cannot wait to see the teachers showcase their dance moves alongside the students at this event! Don’t miss out on ticket sales, as they will be closing soon on Friday. Thank you to the Parent and Friends Association for all your support, and remember that all our fundraising efforts this year go towards our goal of building a second playground for our school community.

We are also excited to showcase our legacy wall on the bike shed fence, featuring artwork created by our Year 5 and 6 students with Sam in 2025. Our former Year 6 students can see the impact they’ve made through this beautiful display, as they are remembered as the graduates of 2025.
Today, we will celebrate Harmony Day at Wollert Primary School, recognising our diversity and bringing together Australians from all backgrounds. This day is about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.
To mark this occasion, families are invited to join us for a Harmony Day celebration in the school gym at 2:30pm.
During the celebration:
- Students will participate in a parade showcasing their outfits.
- Students are encouraged to wear traditional cultural clothing or orange to honour the day.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the team led by Samantha Camilleri, our School Wide Behaviour Support Teacher for Years 3-4, as well as the rest of the Specialist Team, for organising this event. Our students have created magnificent flags to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds present at Wollert Primary School.
As we approach the end of the term, I am excited to announce upcoming Open Classroom events on Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2 at 2.30pm- 3.00pm. These events will focus on students' bookwork and offer families the opportunity to view students’ Reading, Writing, and Numeracy books, celebrate their work, and understand their goals and next steps.

I am pleased to announce the parent representatives for the school council, serving until March 2027.
- Jodie Hutchinson (parent of Lillian, Eloise, and Abigail)- School Council President
- Peter Ripoli (parent of Ivy and Leo)- Treasurer
- Chris Thompson (parent of Alfie)

Our Department of Education Staff Representatives include myself, Rebecca Richards, Sharni Mullin, Dean Smith, and Tien Vo. We greatly appreciate the involvement of both parents and staff in this vital team, as well as their continued support for our school community. This week, we presented the Annual Report, which will be shared on our school website shortly.

As we near the end of the term, I want to inform you that staff will have a planning day next week to work collaboratively as a team. This day will provide teachers the opportunity to discuss and review the learning objectives for the upcoming term, as well as analyse data to improve our teaching and learning program. On this day, your child will still attend their Specialist classes.
I would like to emphasise the importance of safety during pick-up and drop-off times. It is crucial that children use our school crossings at all times to ensure everyone's safety. Please discuss this with your child as we finish the term. Families should not be using the staff car park for pick-up and drop-off unless prior arrangements have been made with me. Thank you for your cooperation.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month-long fasting period from dawn to dusk during Ramadan for some of our families. To Wollert Primary School families celebrating this occasion from Friday, March 20, to Saturday, March 21, we wish you wonderful times with your loved ones.

Have a lovely week of learning,
Justin Lania
