Principal's Message

By Jenny Hassett

Hello everyone,

Firstly wishing you all a wonderful long weekend with your families. We hope you have something to look forward to, be it big or small! A lot of children will be excited that the AFL is starting (and a lot of teachers too!)

Grade 5 & 6 Lightning Premiership: A big thank you to both students and parents who were involved in the Lightning Premiership on Wednesday. We received many comments from other schools noting how well behaved, polite and respectful our students were. This message seems to be very consistent whenever we go on excursions or trips, and our staff are very proud of it!

Grade 1 & 2 Swimming starts Monday 16th March: Exciting times ahead for Grade 1 and 2 students with swimming starting on the 16th of March. A reminder that parents cannot enter the change rooms unless they have a Working with Children’s card. It’s a great time for students to develop their independence by changing and getting organised by themselves. A practice run at home beforehand can be a big help. Some tips are; put socks into shoes (and underwear if you wanted), and when getting out of swimmers, stand on your towel then wrap swimmers up with a towel when changed.

Swimming Lesson Times:

GR 1: 12 -12.45pm

GR 2: 12.45 – 1.30pm

NAPLAN:

NAPLAN begins for our Grade 3 & 5 students next Wednesday. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to get in touch.

Our AIP Target teams: For this week’s staff meeting we broke up into our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) Teams to implement and plan for 2026. Our three AIP teams are curriculum, wellbeing and inclusion. A focus for the wellbeing team is attendance, and aiming to increase our attendance rates this year and into the future. The team will begin implementing some initiatives soon, centred on promoting the importance of attendance and being on time.

IMPORTANT School Crossing Information:

We have received an email from the City of Greater Geelong as they have concerns regarding before and after school drop offs. Please note that children are not allowed to be dropped off within the flagged area and parking signs must be obeyed.

Have a great long weekend.
