Year Three - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

Our Olympic mathematics has been a blast. Using balloons, cone hurdles, pipe cleaner arrows and pom pop shotputs we have been exploring the use of multiplication and division to work out our scores and averages. Students have been using tally marks to keep track of balloon bounces like soccer skills and comparing their scores for who scored the most. We asked questions about why some countries have more medals than others and agreed that the countries population had a huge part to play with how many people were able to compete.

Mathematics: Multiplication and division. Using a range of strategies including calculators.

English: Information report. Investigating the life and career of a famous entertainer. Following a structure that outlines our body paragraph using a topic sentence, supporting details 1, 2 and 3 then a concluding statement.

Religious Education: We have been investigating the sacraments of the Catholic church. at the moment we are focusing on initiation and this week we explored the Eucharist.

Thank you to those parents that have already returned our religion survey. It would be lovely to have them all back early next week. We are hoping this can bring more discussion and representation of our schools diverse cultures and religions.

Auslan: What was the weather like yesterday? What will it be like tomorrow? These are the types of questions we have been learning to ask this week and how to answer with hit and cold.

The weather has been quite wet of late, if your child enjoys playing soccer on the oval it would be a great idea to have a spare change of clothes for them in their bag.
