Year Five - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
This week, the Year 5 class has dived into the exciting world of the Olympics! In math, we held a thrilling 'Math Olympics,' where students enjoyed fun activities and used fractions to determine their total scores.
A friendly reminder we are having an Olympics Games Activity on Friday 9th of August from11.45am - 12.30pm. Parents are invited to come to the classroom and participate in some Olympic Games the students have created. We look forward to seeing you during this time and having you enjoy the Olympic spirit.
THIS WEEK IN GRADE 5
Mathematics: Olympic Math's. Students will be creating their own Olympic Math's game to share with their peers and families.
English: Tom Appleby – Convict Boy Class Novel. Students will continue to explore the class novel, including key vocabulary. In writing they will continue working on their Information report using the SPO structure (Single Paragraph Outline).
Religious Education: Sacraments of the Church.
Integrated Studies: Students will be participating in sport dancing, music dancing, and bush dancing. The focus will also be on choreographing dance sequences
SEL: Students explore ways in which gender norms are transmitted through intergenerational cultural practices and be able to identify how gender norms change over time.
Auslan: Students will be revising some of the signs for the following;

Reminders
- Students are required to be wearing their fulluniform, either winter or summer but not a mix up of both! As it is particularly cold a school jumper or jacket is highly recommended.
- Please send your student to school with fruit for brain food
- Students are expected to be reading at a minimum 4 times a week
- Book Week is coming up in a few weeks time (Week 6) with the theme 'Reading is Magic'. On Friday 23rd August we will be having our Book Week dress up and parade. Start getting those costumes ready!

- Monday the 5th of August there will be a catch up photo opportunity if your child was absent.
