Science Week

Looking for Donations - Next week is Science Week and some of our 4 YO children will be making potions!!  So much fun!!  If you have any herbs or small flowers/petals in your garden at home and you would be willing to bring them in for the children to use in their mixing, we would really appreciate it!!  Please just hand them to your child's teacher.  Thanks

Allied Health - Speech Pathologist

The below article has been shared with us by a Speech Pathologist from Health Abilities who suppports our teachers, in upskilling them to work with the children and identify needs, improve outcomes and extend the children's learning, in preparation for their next step in their educational journey.

This article is for families so you can help support this work that the teachers are doing here at kinder, and at home too!

Supporting Emotional Regulation

Emotional regulation is key to children’s overall well-being and success in life. Research shows that emotional intelligence (understanding and managing emotions) is more important for success than just being smart (IQ). Kids with high emotional intelligence often do better in school and have higher IQs. They are also less likely to feel depressed or anxious. Here are simple ways to help your child’s emotional regulation:

Remember, learning to manage emotions takes time. Be patient with your child and yourself.

Mini Olympics

We have had so much fun this week learning about different countries flags and all about the Olympics.  We have made mini Olympic torches, medals, flags.  We have competed in sporting events.  So many potential future Olympians amongst us!!

Banksia Drumming Incursion

Banksia group were very lucky to have their drumming incursion a little earlier than we expected.  It was such a fund and interactive session with all the children having the opportunity to play their own drum and move to the music.  The sound coming from the 3 YO room was amazing!!!  The children played with musical patterns, the dynamics of sound, tempo and rhythm.

Reminder: School Playgrounds

A number of  children from the kinder have been playing on the school playgrounds after session.  Please know that many of the school playgrounds are constructed for much older children.  Particularly the one near the Library and the one on the lower side of the Learning Centre, which are for Grade 5 and 6 students.

These playgrounds are not safe for the kinder children to be accessing, especially unsupervised.  Kinder children have been found to be playing on these playgrounds with no parents near by.  You must be supervising your children at all times on school grounds.

We recommend using the playground at the Vermont Reserve as this is more suitable to the age of the children.
