Welcome to the latest Nurlendi News! With the cool weather easing a little, it's been lovely to have some sunny mornings greeting students and families at the gate. There continues to be lots happening around the school, and some special things coming up! As you can see as you look through the pages of this issue, our students have had so many wonderful opportunities over the last few weeks.
This week, Julie De Jong, our OSHC coordinator will be heading off on some leave for the remainder of Term 3, before officially retiring on the last day of term. Julie has been a long standing member of the Vermont PS community, and a familiar face for many families who attend OSHC or the Vacation Care program. Julie has run a tight ship with OSHC, and we are so grateful for the care and dedication she has shown to countless children over the years. Julie plays a big part in the 'extra' things that make our school run the way it does - tending to our chickens, taking care of the gardens, signing in visitors over the holidays as well as many other important jobs that benefit the students, staff and parents. We wish Julie all the best for her period of leave, and look forward to farewelling her properly at the end of term! Emma McCaughey will be taking over as OSHC Coordinator, and we know that Emma will continue to run our OSHC program to the same high standards that Julie has.
Last week I had the great job of attending our Year 6 Ski Camp. The students were a credit to their parents, showing exceptional manners, exemplary behaviour and grit, determination and persistence. Watching our students work hard to push themselves both physically and mentally was amazing, and seeing all 48 of them confidently ski down the mountain on the last day was inspiring. Well done to all the students who attended, and a huge thank you to Mr Wastie, Mr Webb, Mr Hoskin and Mrs Jarvis who attended, as well as parents Nick and Allison.
