New Subject at Year 10 in 2025: Concept Art and Digital Rendering (CAnDR)
It is pleasing to announce that beginning in 2025, Concept Art and Digital Rendering (CAnDR) will be a selectable subject elective for Year 10 students to study in Visual Arts. Following on from Ms. Frittitta’s Year 9 Digital Art class, students will discover and be taught the processes and skills that digital creatives use as part of their digital workflows. Through physical and digital folios, students will become more familiar with the many tools and features of Adobe Photoshop, whilst also utilising Wacom graphics tablets to explore and render their ideas that were drawn on paper. They will conceptualise detailed environments as part of the Concept Art component of the subject and rendering techniques to give form and materiality to products in the Digital Rendering component. Students will also study about the careers of digital creatives and designers as well as a bit about the potential impact of AI. They will learn about how to breakdown and analyse artworks and design solutions through the lenses of Art Making and Exhibiting and Visual Communication Design as a pathway to prepare them for either, or both, of these VCE subjects in Year 11. If you are a current Year 9 student who took, or is taking, Year 9 Digital Art this year and want to study it further, or if you simply have an interest in creating works digitally, then this is the subject for you!

Vinnies Winter Sleepout 2024
The Winter Sleepout is fast approaching. It will occur on Friday, 23 August, the same day as Comfy Clothes Day. Students from all levels are encouraged to come and join in the activities, such as games, roasting marshmallows, movie night and a whole lot more. Students can sleep in a 2-person tent or the gym. Our focus is, of course, on Homelessness in Australia. A $10 entry fee must be paid to Ms Douglass before the evening, and participants are encouraged to get family and friends to sponsor their effort. A donation link is below.

The number of participants will be capped at 60, so you must sign up quickly to avoid losing a spot. This will also generate the permission letter on PAM. The sign-up sheet is located in the Resource Centre, on the glass window outside Ms Douglass' office.
COMFY CLOTHES DAY
On Friday, 23 August, Vinnies will also hold a Comfy Clothes Day to raise funds for Beyond Blue. Wearing appropriate casual, comfy clothes will cost $3, which will be collected in the morning Pastoral. Please support this new initiative and be comfortable for the day!
