Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and friends of Nazareth

Term 3 has begun well and I thank you for your support in ensuring that our students are all equipped, attired and ready for learning.

The school is currently undergoing a review, which takes place every four years.  This ensures that we adhere to VRQA Compliance, Child Safety, curriculum offerings and learnings, as well as all the safety components that schools need to be equipped with.

It is a comprehensive review which is so beneficial.  It ensures that risks are minimised within schools by confirming that procedures and processes are in place.  Child Safety is also paramount and awareness of practices and procedures are key to make certain that student safety is never compromised.

The first part of the College audit was wide-ranging and, according to verbal feedback, we have met all the requirements with only some minor adjustments to attend to.  The College received compliments as all items, policies and registers were systematically organised and easy to navigate.  I thank Ms Tracey Burnett, the College Compliance/Policy Manager and Psychologist, for overseeing this and having everything ready for our reviewers.

In the coming week the College will host the three reviewers, Gavin Healy, Peter Fotheringham and Paul Ledwidge as they delve further into the curriculum, school policies and procedures, and child safety, and see whether these features are embedded into the day-to-day operations.  The best way to test this is to talk to those that live it, breathe it and enact it - the students, staff, parents and committee members of school groups.  I thank all of you who are giving up your time to provide your thoughts and opinions to our reviewers.

This week we have also had our VCE and VCE-VM Oral Reporting sessions (Student Progress Meetings).  This is so beneficial for families and students, as well as teachers, in ensuring that we all work in partnership in achieving the very best in learning.

Today, the entire College Staff were blessed to hear from Dr O Ernesto Valiente, from Santa Ana, El Salvador.  Neto is a professor of Systematic Theology at Boston College, Massachusetts USA. He spoke to the staff about Jesus of Nazareth and the Holy Family of Nazareth.  It was an extremely enriching and informative presentation which our community have undoubtedly benefitted from.

In the coming editions of the Nazarene, I will continue to keep you updated on more significant events around the College and the outcome of our review.

God Bless.

Mr Sam Cosentino

Principal
