Exciting News: Our STEAM Centre is Nearly Ready!

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our school community. Our much-anticipated STEAM Centre is nearly complete, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it! Recently, I had the privilege of walking through the building with our Year 6 school captains. It was a wonderful experience, and I was incredibly proud of our captains, who asked insightful questions about the build and how everything has been planned and executed.

Our school captains are eager to share their thoughts and observations with the community soon. They are just as excited as I am about the progress of the new facility. The building is on track to be fully completed and furnished during the school holidays. This means that when our students return, they will have a fantastic new space dedicated to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). These classrooms will be equipped with all the necessary resources to provide our students with a comprehensive and immersive STEAM experience.

I am particularly excited to see the joy on our students' faces when they start using this state-of-the-art space. Our Year 6 students have expressed their enthusiasm, especially about the new toilets, which I’m sure will be a hit with all our students.

I will keep you posted on the final opening date. In the meantime, enjoy looking at the photographs below. The next photos you see will be of the completed building. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to embarking on this new and exciting chapter in our school’s journey together.

Celebrating the Joy of Reading: Readers Assembly

It was wonderful attending the Students' Readers Assembly on Monday and seeing so many of our parents present to watch their children receive certificates for their reading nights. I was incredibly proud of all the students and their efforts to read every night.

Reading is one of the most important skills that a child can develop. It opens the door to a world of knowledge, imagination, and critical thinking. Regular reading not only improves literacy skills but also enhances vocabulary, comprehension, and general knowledge. It fosters a love for learning that can last a lifetime.

The dedication our students have shown in reading every night is commendable. Their hard work is paying off, and it was heartwarming to see them acknowledged for their achievements. The support from parents in encouraging this daily habit is invaluable, as it reinforces the importance of reading at home.

We know that children who read regularly perform better academically and develop stronger emotional and social skills. By celebrating their commitment to reading, we are encouraging a culture of literacy that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the assembly and continue to support their children’s reading journeys. Your involvement makes a significant difference and helps instil a lifelong love of reading in our students. Let's continue to work together to nurture this vital skill and celebrate every milestone along the way.

Koorie Excurision

Our Koorie students had the wonderful opportunity to visit Willum Warrain ('home by the sea'), a significant gathering place located at Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula. This excursion provided our students with a meaningful chance to immerse themselves in their rich culture and history, deepening their connection to their heritage and strengthening their sense of identity.

Students trying on the possum skin cloaks. These garments were made by sewing together multiple possum skins, and they often held significant cultural meaning, including being decorated with designs that represented the wearer’s clan, totem, or personal journey.

The black rope represents how long indigenous people have been here versus white people. Keanu one of our grade 4 students said" We've been here a lot longer than any other culture on earth and that's something to be proud of".
