Sunday's Gospel - 19th Sunday in Ordinary time

Gospel Reading -  John 6:41-51

"Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever"

In this scripture, Jesus identifies himself as the 'bread of life'. The challenge for our people is to know that Jesus comes to satisfy our spiritual needs rather than just our physical hunger. This is vital to help us understand eternal life.  How does Jesus want us to be nourished as Christians? It has been clearly stated in scripture that man can not live on bread alone, but from knowing the word of God.

I wonder how we can nourish our spiritual growth?

Do we prioritise our spirituality like we do for other needs in our life?

How do we allow for Jesus is become the 'bread in our life?'

Last Saturday, we had an amazing celebration for our Year 6 Students who have been preparing for this Sacrament for several weeks. Our emphasis this year was about making connections and links between receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit and renewing their baptismal promises. We pray that our Year 6 students have become more discerning about what their gifts are as they continue to use these to help and serve others.

We give thanks to parents, teachers, sponsors and of course Father Dispin and Bishop Les who have been an important part of the Year 6 students' journey and preparation for this sacrament.
