St Finbar's Olympics

Tomorrow!

A definite BUZZ is currently being felt around the yard and classrooms with only ONE more sleep until we host our very own 2024 St Finbar’s Olympics Games!

All students have been placed in one of 14 representative countries, with everyone encouraged to dress up in exercise-friendly clothing and wear sneakers, in the colours of their representative country.

Each Country group will compete in seven tabloid Olympic-themed events over the morning in their cross-age country groups.  We hope it’s a fun and spirit-building event for everyone involved.  A big thank you goes to our Year 6’s who have helped Mrs Thompson organise this event for the whole school.

Special Guest - past x2 Olympian!

For our Closing Ceremony we are very excited to announce that we have a past Olympian coming along as a special guest to speak to our school about their ‘not one; but two’  Olympic experiences! In fact they are a parent of our SF community! Can anyone guess who it is and what medal they won?

Our Closing Ceremony with our guest speaker will be held at approximately 10.50am.

 🙌🏼 SPECTATORS WELCOME 🙌🏼

All families are most welcome to come along and help cheer on their child/ren and country teams over the morning.  The SF Olympics Opening Ceremony will begin at approx. 9.20am in the hall, immediately after Assembly and the Closing ceremony will finish by 11am.

GOOD LUCK TO AEROSCHOOL AEROBICS TEAMS!

It’s been a rather busy ten weeks or so for 23 of our Year 5&6 students,  who have been busily preparing for next Thursday’s AeroSchool Aerobics Primary School Championships.

After attending a ‘Come and Try’ AeroSchools session for all Year 5 & 6’s back in early term two, these 23 students excitedly chose to sign up, preparing to train each week at school break times and practise a 1.5 minute aerobics routine to perform in teams of 5 or 6 at the AeroSchool Championships next week.

Coach Olivia Feaver from Bayside Gymnastics and support coach Angela McMillan, have been amazed at the dedication and commitment from the girls, always putting in 100% in each of their training sessions.

The teams are now in their final days of preparation and look forward to their experience at Dianond Creek next Thursday.  Thank you to the parents that are driving the teams to and from the venue.  We look forward to hearing all about their experiences next week. Good luck girls!

HOOPTIME UPDATE

Our Year 3-6’s have now held most of their trials and teams are close to being finalised for both days.

Congratulations goes to the 34 Year 5&6 students that have been selected into one of the four Senior HoopTime teams.  The Senior day is to be held on Friday 9th of August at MSAC.

Our Juniors are still completing their trials and teams will be announced over the next 2 weeks.  Their Junior HoopTime tournament is set for Tuesday 20th August at MSAC.

We’d like to congratulate all students for trying out and giving it their best.
