CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Writing, Grade 2 will jointly construct an information text with their peers.
VOCABULARY
Information Report: a text that provides information about a particular topic.
General Statement: An interesting fact about your topic.
Diagram: A simplified drawing showing the appearance, structure, or workings of something. Includes labels.
Subheading: A heading given to a subsection of a piece of writing.
Fact: A thing that is known or proven to be true.
Conclusion: Information you have not yet provided - which may include a personal comment.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Using an animal of your choice write a title, general statement and create a diagram for your information report.
Remember, the general statement should be the most important information about your animal. What is the first thing you would tell your reader about your animal if they had never heard of it before? Once you have completed a draft, make sure to edit your writing to make it even better!
