Week 3, Term 3
Grade 1 and 2
Students will work to explore the observable changes when creating mixtures of solids and liquids, this will incorporate accurate measuring and observing through our senses.
Grade 3 and 4
This week students are learning about how friction impacts the movement of objects when force is applied. Multiple activities will challenge students’ thinking and understanding.
Grade 5 and 6
Continuing on with exploring the different states of matter, students will investigate materials that can move back and forth through different states. i.e. Reversible changes.
Prep PE
Students will be introduced to the fundamental movement skill of the punt kick (i.e. drop punt). They will be taught to watch the ball onto the top part of their foot when kicking.
Prep Sensory
In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.
Grade 1 and 2
This week, we will focus on the fundamental movement skill of the punt kick (i.e. drop punt). Students will be reminded to watch the ball onto the top of their foot, and to monitor the force of their kick for improved accuracy.
Grade 3 and 4
In our final session before the Level 3-6 House Athletics Carnival, students will be given opportunity to refine their technique and build confidence in the upcoming track and field events.

Prep
Students will participate in rotating stations this week, based around the Olympics. They will make an Olympic torch, learn how to draw the Eiffel Tower and use straws and pipe-cleaners to make a moveable athlete.
Grade 1-4
Students will participate in rotating stations this week, based around the Olympics. They will make an Olympic torch, learn how to draw the Eiffel Tower, and use templates to make rubbings with crayons of athletes in different athletic poses.
Grade 5 and 6
Students will be finishing their Keith Haring inspired figures, adding primary and secondary colours, thick black outlines and movement lines. They will mount them onto a contrasting coloured background. When finished, they will extend their work by choosing one of their drawings to make into a 3D figure using only tin-foil.
Prep
Students will be exploring storytelling in fairytales. They will use drama to finish exploring the well know fairytale of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', using their voice and bodies to portray different characters and feelings from the story. Students will then explore the story and characters of 'The Three Little Pigs'.
Grade 1 and 2
With the Olympic Games offering the chance to learn about different countries and cultures, students will continue to learn about different dances and music from around the world. This week students will learn rhythms and dances from Spain.
Grade 3 and 4
Students are continuing to learn about the dance style of 'breaking'. They will learn about breaking in this year's Olympic Games as they continue to learn about its history. Students will have the chance to practise the 'toprock' moves they have been taught and also learn about ways to move safely from a 'toprock' to 'downrock' position.
Grade 5 and 6
