School Wide Positive Behaviour

Our students continue to earn Eggs for displaying behaviours in line with our school values - Compassion, Creativity, Ambition and Courage - earning them a whopping 25 Birds towards our next Celebration Day. With only 14 Birds remaining, students have begun to think of Celebration Day ideas that can beat last year's Ice Cream Day!

🐝🐝🐝Term 4 Working Bees🐝🐝🐝

We’re excited to announce two Working Bees this term, and we’d love your help to get a few big jobs done in the school and kindergarten grounds before the end of the year!

🔹 🐝🐝🐝Friday 7 November, 3:30–5:30pm - TOMORROW!!🐝🐝🐝

This afternoon will focus on spreading mulch around the school grounds to freshen up our gardens and play areas. Please bring wheelbarrows, shovels, and pitchforks if you have them, and a readiness to get your hands dirty! Refreshments will be provided to keep everyone fuelled and happy.

🔹 Friday 28 November, 3:30–5:30pm

Our second working bee will focus on clearing and organising storage spaces, including areas under buildings and in sheds. We’ll also be breaking down old furniture to go into a skip (or two). It’s a big task but as we all know many hands make light work!

We hope to see lots of families come along to lend a hand and enjoy the community spirit that makes these afternoons so rewarding.

💻💻💻Digital Learning Policy Update💻💻💻

Recently, the Department of Education announced updates to the state-wide Digital Learning Policy, including important changes to both time spent on digital devices and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs.

At Box Hill North Primary School, we remain committed to using digital technologies purposefully to enhance learning. In line with the new policy, students in Years 3-6 will continue to have limited screen time, with total use for learning purposes not exceeding 90 minutes per day. This ensures that digital learning remains balanced and meaningful, supporting the development of essential skills while maintaining a strong focus on hands-on and collaborative learning experiences.

As a school that has successfully operated a BYOD program for a number of years, we will be making several changes to align with the new state wide requirements:

  • Students in Years 4-6 in 2026 will be able to continue using their existing BYOD devices (purchased prior to 2027) until those devices need to be replaced.
  • Box Hill North Primary School will purchase devices for students in Year 3 from 2026 onwards to use while at school. These devices will be kept at school overnight, and will initially be allocated as 1:1 devices for 2026 Year 3 students.
  • A Digital Technologies Information Session for 2026 Year 3 students and parents will be held at 4.15pm on Thursday 27th November in the Community Room (next to the Office)  to provide more detailed information about these updates.
  • Looking ahead, from 2028 and beyond, the school will provide devices for Years 3-6 students on a 1:2 ratio, encouraging students to share responsibility for the care and use of devices during school hours.

At Box Hill North Primary School, our focus continues to be on creating a learning environment where technology enhances learning, builds responsibility, and prepares students for the future, while maintaining a healthy balance with offline learning.

If you have any questions about these updates, please don’t hesitate to contact Anna to discuss further.
