Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
Remembrance Day
This morning our school leaders attended the Inverleigh RSL Remembrance Day service. Meanwhile back at school we paused for a moment’s silence and shared the following information with students.
Remembrance Day is one of the most important days on our commemorative calendar. It's a day when we acknowledge those who died or suffered while serving in wars, conflicts and peace operations. Remembrance Day is held on 11 November each year. This is the anniversary of the Armistice of 1918 that ended fighting in World War I. The war didn't officially end until 28 June 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles.
People in Australia and many other countries observe one minute's silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month because that's when the Armistice came into effect. It's a time to honour all personnel who died or suffered in the service of Australia.
It’s important we continue to build our students' knowledge of significant commemorative days in Australia with students, who will be the custodians of these events into the future. Currently our Senior School students have been studying the novel ‘Once’ by Morris Gleitzmann which immerses them in the history of World War 2 in their latest content knowledge unit.
Foundation Transition
It was fantastic to welcome next year’s Foundation students for their first transition visit this morning. They will be visiting for the next few Tuesdays to build their school readiness for 2026. They did a marvellous job walking over in lines to the foundation rooms, sitting on the floor, having a play, packing up and listening to a story before they headed back to their families. In the next two weeks Mr Lindsay and Ms Barnett will run sessions on our school’s approach to Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing to ensure families have all the information they need to start the 2026 school year.
Middle School Camp
Next week, our middle school students head off on camp at Lady Northcote near Bacchus Marsh. Let’s hope the weather is on the improve for them and they have the best time away!
The following Monday, November 24th will be our final pupil free day for the year. Students are not required at school on this day.
Bye for now and have a great week!
