Year Three

Respectful Relationships
In Year Three, we have been learning about gender stereotypes through the Respectful Relationships Program and exploring how they can influence the way people see themselves and others.
Students absolutely LOVE acting out different characters and scenarios. Through our fun “before and after” role-plays, they showed how challenging stereotypes can change the way we think and treat others. They also enjoyed reflecting on their own identity and learning about the many different gender identities in our world.
We are incredibly proud of how Safe, Kind and Respectful the students have been throughout these lessons. They have shown genuine care for other people’s feelings, cultural and religious beliefs, and family values.
Below is a snippet from Bell, Duke and Esther in 3KO:
“During our Respectful Relationships lessons we are learning about gender stereotypes. We acted out a role-play to show that it doesn’t matter what gender you are - you can still do any job or follow any dream you desire. We liked acting out events before and after to show that it doesn’t matter what gender you are. The funniest part was when Duke used the word ‘nostalgia’ to show that 20 years had passed!”
We will continue to celebrate and embrace diversity and inclusion so that everyone feels connected and has a sense of belonging.
