Performing Arts

Hi everyone!

We’ve had an extremely creative and productive time in Performing Arts this month!

Foundation

Foundation students have completed their unit about how the use of our senses help us to learn different dance skills and musical concepts. They performed a dance sequence that consisted of a dramatic entrance, five different dance actions and a dance pose. They also learnt about different rhythms and how to use patterns in dance.

Year One and Two

It was all about Music for the Year Ones and Twos this term! The students have been learning so many new music skills: They have learnt how to identify different note values, clap different rhythms, and play different percussion instruments. They have also learnt how to play ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ on the glockenspiel as well as singing ‘Do Re Me’! Last but not least, they composed their own pieces of music in small groups and applied musical dynamics to improve their compositions!

Year Three and Four

The Year Threes and Fours have completed and performed their movement stories about bullying. They have also watched another choreography that they had to compare to their own performance and discussed the similarities and differences between the two pieces.

Year Five and Six

Year Five and Six students have been very focused on completing their dance video clips. This week, they are analysing and comparing two professional music video clips that are very different. Next week, Year Fives will be editing their video clips using iMovie and Year Sixes will start practising their graduation song!
