Around the Classrooms

Digi Tech

This term the Preps are having a wonderful time in Digital Technologies!  They initially learned how coding instructions work by giving each other instructions like robots to help clean up the classroom (and then had great fun messing it up again!).  The step-by-step coding instructions were then transferred to an Ipad app called Bluebot, where students had to guide the Bluebot on their screen to a specific point using block coding.  Once they mastered block coding with the app, we moved on to coding the physical Bluebots around our makeshift town.  It seems everyone wanted their Bluebot to go to KFC!  Throughout these lessons, students are not only learning coding concepts with sequenced instruction, they're also learning about measurement, space, direction, directional language (left, right, back, forward) and perspective.

Students have also been using the program Lightbot to practise their coding skills and they've progressed now to applying their code as a whole sequence rather than individual instructions.  They are all to be congratulated on how well they've picked up coding concepts and for their behaviour in class taking turns, sharing and supporting each other.
