Principal's Message

Loving God,

We thank You for the generous hearts of all who give their time in service to our school community.

Bless our volunteers with patience, joy, and wisdom in all they do.

Guide us to create a safe and caring place where every child is valued, protected, and loved.

May our efforts reflect Your compassion and our shared commitment to care for one another.

Amen.

Volunteer Induction – Keeping Our Community Safe

At St Andrew’s, we are so grateful for the incredible contribution our volunteers make to school life. Your generosity and involvement truly strengthen our community.

To continue ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students, families, and volunteers, it is now a requirement for all volunteers to complete the Volunteer Induction process. This new process — endorsed by our School Advisory Council (SAC) — follows their recommendations to strengthen our child safety practices and align with current school and MACS expectations.

The Volunteer Induction is guided by the Volunteers Checklist, which outlines key child safety, wellbeing, and emergency management policies, along with necessary background checks such as a Working with Children Check and, where relevant, a police check.

There will be a 12-month phasing-in period for all volunteers to complete their induction, but we encourage everyone to begin as soon as possible. Completing it early will ensure you’re ready to help with classroom support, excursions, and school events when opportunities arise.

These measures are an important part of our shared commitment to child safety and to maintaining a trusted, caring environment for all members of our school community.

Click on the link to access the Volunteer Induction Checklist or a hard copy os avaible from the school office.

Thank you for supporting this important initiative and helping to make St Andrew’s a safe and welcoming place for all. Please feel free to discuss this imporatant inititive with me at anytime.

Parent Handbook Now Available Digitally

Until recently, our Parent Handbook was not available in a digital format, and many families may not have known where to find it. We’re pleased to share that it is now accessible online and will be included in the newsletter each week for easy reference.

The handbook outlines key information about school operations, attendance, communication, wellbeing, learning programs, uniforms, fees, and child safety to help families stay informed and connected. We understand that the current version is not fully comprehensive, and we will be reviewing and refining it over time to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our community.

This is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting clear and consistent communication across the school. If there is information you believe should be added or clarified, please email your suggestions to principal@saclaytonsth.catholic.edu.au.
