Year Two Team News

with Steph, Joel and Rochelle

Hello Year Two families,

Over the past four weeks, we have been enjoying our warm water swimming program on Wednesdays. Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered their time to assist us over the duration of the program, so far. We have three more swimming sessions to go!

Important news:

  • Year 2 Sleepover: Our much-anticipated Year 2 sleepover is nearly here! Next Thursday 6th November, the Year 2 students will be enjoying their sleepover at school. We would like to extend our thanks to all of the parent helpers who have kindly offered to volunteer and assist us with dinner, staying overnight, with breakfast, or in preparing lunch for the Friday.
  • Medical Notes for Year 2 Sleepover: If your child requires medication during our Year 2 Sleepover, you will be required to complete a Camp Medication Form for your child and drop it off, along with any medication, clearly labelled in a zip lock bag. Please hand over any medications to Joel who will be stationed at the front of the PE Hall at approximately 5.15pm next Thursday.

Curriculum Focus: Weeks 5 and 6

Literacy: In Reading, we will be continuing to gather facts when reading non-fiction texts. We will also continue to explore a variety of suffixes, e.g. -ful during our Little Learners Loves Literacy program. In Writing, we will be drafting information reports on things that can be found in our garden.

Numeracy:  We will be revising place value, along with addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Inquiry: We will be continuing to research invertebrates and creatures we find in the garden.

Willy Kids: Through the pillar of responsibility, we will be learning about the importance of honesty and accountability.

Until next time,

The Grade Two Team - Steph Keswick (2K), Joel Kitchen (2J) & Rochelle White (2W)
