Children's University - Grade 3-6

At tomorrow's assembly there will be a presentation launching Children's University. Emma McCann (High Abilities Coordinator) will be coordinating the Children’s University enrichment program commencing in May. The program involves students in guided learning through an online portal and the opportunity to visit free, reduced cost and paid learning venues (such as Melbourne Museum, school holidays library programs, Parks Victoria venues and many others). Emma will be running a club weekly at school to guide and support the participants in learning about various topics. Students get their own learning passport stamped as they log hours and participate in a graduation ceremony at Swinburne in November. Information will be sent home to all Grade 3-6 students on Friday.  Check out the link below ahead of time if you wish:

Building a national picture of child health

From May 2024, our school, along with thousands of others across the country, will participate in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC).  Information about this has been sent to all Foundation families.

  1. The AEDC is a teacher-completed census (similar to a questionnaire) which provides a comprehensive picture of how children have developed by the time they start their first year of full-time school.
  2. The AEDC is an Australian Government Initiative and is completed nationally every three years.
  3. Children don’t miss any class time while the AEDC is completed, and parents/carers don’t need to supply schools with any new information.

Participation in the AEDC is voluntary, however, the AEDC relies on all schools with children in their first year of full-time school participating in the collection. Parents/carers don’t need to take any action unless they choose not to include their children in the census.

To find out more about the AEDC and how it is being used to help children and families visit: www.aedc.gov.au.

If you have any questions, you can contact Narelle Sencek via email narelle.sencek@education.vic.gov.au or call the office.
