Year 6 onion racing!
Grade 6 students have been reading the novel "Holes" by Louis Sachar. The novel weaves together themes of identity, relationships, and the power of resilience. Set in the Texan desert of Camp Green Lake, the book follows Stanley Yelnats, a young boy wrongly accused of stealing a pair of sneakers who is sentenced to detention at Camp Green Lake. Stanley finds himself in a peculiar environment where boys are forced to dig holes under the watchful eye of the mysterious Warden.
Our central theme this term of "who we are" resonates throughout the novel, as the characters grapple with their pasts and discover who they are amidst their adversity.
Students dressed up as their favourite characters from the novel and enjoyed some interesting culinary delights, from spiced peaches to sploosh-inspired concoctions and participated in an unforgettable onion-eating race which helped students connect with the characters and themes in the novel.
And we dug HOLES!

Our primary swimming and athletic champions were also presented with their medals.
Mr Banham's class entertained us with a song and a dance - Mr Banham did too!
Well done to all!
Assemblies are held weekly on a Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm (for a 2:35pm start). Parents are welcome to attend.
