Updates from Ebony and Maddy on behalf of Miss Maree
Well...if the above photo doesn't show how much of a good time Miss Maree is having over in Italy, we don't know what does. How relaxed does she look! It has been wonderful to have Miss Maree sending through some pics from her current pilgrimage through Italy. She was lucky enough to get a close picture of our Pope! Although we are missing her greatly, and looking forward to her return at the beginning of week 3, we are grateful that she has this time to relax and unwind, eat all the delicious italian pizza and enjoy the magic Italy has to offer.
Here are a few pictures from her recent weeks in Rome and Assisi.
In exciting news, over the holidays we were notified by politician Annabelle Cleeland that after much discussion (and community outrage!), we will be not only keeping our crossing supervisor (yay!), but our physical crossing, which Vic Roads had planned to remove in the holidays. A huge win for our school community and for the safety of our children. We will keep the Primary school in our thoughts as they continue to battle to regain their crossing supervisor, which the local council will not fund. They have received a $100,000 grant to upgrade their crossing by the State...yet no one to supervise it.
This term we will be alternating the newsletter and school assembly each week. We will publish the newsletter this week, and assemblies will commence in Week 2 at 2:45pm in the library with 4/5/6's to lead.
A huge thank you to both staff and families who engaged in learning conversations and PSG meetings towards the end of last term. These are valued and important conversations to have, to ensure we are coming together with common goals around your child's learning and to discuss the needs of our children as a collective. We are always open to feedback, so if you have any ideas on how we can make this process more seamless, please don't hesitate to reach out and share your thoughts. Always welcomed!
Last term we trialed a new session focussed around student agency whereby our children discussed with the educators their passions and areas of life that they would like to inquire into more. As all learning is linked to the curriculum we went about creating a multitude of experiences for our children to engage with. It was such a success that we've gone back to the drawing board and compiled a list of inquiries to kick start this term. On Tuesday the children voted on their top three preferences from the list and our next 'Choose day inquiry' will commence next Tuesday afternoon. The inquiries for this term so far are fishing, cooking, jewellery making, kinder visits, aged care visits, construction building, book club, art/drawing club, garden group! If we have any budding parents who would love to come and join us of a Tuesday afternoon, please feel free to reach out as we'd be happy to have you!
It is with great delight that we share with you all that our wonderful Shania has become engaged to her partner, Lochlan Wilson. Lochlan surprised Shan with a proposal on the beach in Cape Patterson during the school holidays. We wish Shan and Lochlan all the best as they move into this next exciting time in their relationship.
We have a bin at school (near the staff room door) where 10 cent cans and bottles can be left. This is a simple ongoing fundraiser that requires very little work while being great for our environment. If you are not already doing this yourself we would love any spare cans/bottles that you/neighbours/extended family might have.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Take care and stay safe,
Ebony and Maddy
