It has been a busy first term, with interschool sporting competitions well underway.
BSC teams compete against a number of schools including Richmond High School, Princes Hill High School, University High School, Fitzroy High School and Melbourne Girls College . Winners of these competitions advance to the Regional finals, and from there to state meets.
While competing, our students develop and exercise teamwork and communication skills, as well as cultivate their values of respect, persistence and achievement. These concepts transfer across many disciplines - not only sporting competition but through to academic studies and social, respectful relationships.
I am pleased to report that all of our students demonstrated maturity, care, pride and camaraderie while competing this term. No matter the score, every team that went out to compete returned as winners!
A number of our teams including Year 7 Boys Volleyball, Year 7 Boys Cricket, Year 8 Boys Volleyball, Year 8 Boys Cricket and Year 8 Girls Volleyball have advanced to the regional competitions, so we look forward to sending them out as BSC ambassadors again next term.
Sports Leadership
Supporting our Junior School students in their endeavours, several Year 10 students offered to act as coaches and mentors for the junior teams. just as the team competitors participated in order to do their best, our Sports Leaders were there to make the most of the opportunity to improve their coaching skills. To their great credit, these students stepped up to the responsibilities of leadership, taking care of equipment, umpiring games, guiding and coaching teams on and off the field or court, cheering their teams on and making sure that their peers all felt supported and valued.
Well done to these Year 10 students who generously volunteered their time to experience to act in the various coaching roles.
