Hot Potatoes!

Tim and Angela Chandler, owners of Cave Hill Creek and members of our local community, generously donated a large amount of fruit and vegetables to the school amidst the bushfire emergency. To show our immense gratitude, the BSC Canteen held a hot potato fundraiser to help raise funds for the Raglan CFA, of which Tim is a member. The event was a great success, with students and staff alike queuing up at lunchtime for their tasty spuds. Special thanks to Megan and her team of helpers for organising and catering the event.

Blazeaid Assistance

In the wake of the recent bushfires our VCE VM and Hands on Learning studentswill volunteer alongside Blazeaid, helping to repair fences on properties affected by the recent bushfires. This is a valuable opportunity for students to give back to the community, while building on their team work and inter-personal skills. It will also be a great chance for students to use the Habits of Mind skills they have been working on.

We would like to thank Rod McErvale for donating the use of the bus; this kind gesture has made the day possible for our students.

New Graduates

We would like to congratulate staff members, Portia Hughes, Bachelor of Physical Education and Health with a Minor in Outdoor Education, and Jayden Severino, Bachelor of Physical Education and Health with a Minor in English, on their recent graduation from Federation University, Ballarat Campus. This was an enormous milestone for the pair, after many years of hard work and commitment. Both Jayden and Portia are excited to continue their teaching journey at BSC.

Footy Tipping

Footy season has once again kicked off, seeing the return of our whole-school footy tipping competition. Each fortnight we will update you with the current ladder leaders and those who tip all nine in any given round. Best of luck to all our tippers for what should be a ripper season.

This fortnight Eric Wilkinson has claimed top spot, with a total of 11 correct tips, followed closely by Molly Nicholls and Kody Mcdonnell, who are both sitting on 10. Our highest staff tippers were Mr. Webb, Mrs Powlett and Ian 'Triggy' Trigg, who are all sitting on 9.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs every Monday and Wednesday morning from 8:30am in the Student Centre. This is a joint initiative of the Victorian Government and Foodbank and provides students with a variety of free, nutritious breakfast options including toast, muesli, yoghurt, pancakes, toasted sandwiches and fruit. Students are most welcome to come and help themselves to whatever they feel like on the day.

Unwanted School Uniforms

Do you have any unwanted uniforms, that are in good condition and no longer in use? If so, you are welcome to donate them to the school via the General Office. All sizes accepted.

Doctors In Schools

Our fortnightly Doctors in Schools Service (DISS) has commenced and will continue throughout the year. This is a valuable service that we are incredibly fortunate to have access to. If any students would like to arrange an appointment, please see either Jackie or Mrs Newberry.

House Cross Country Carnival

The BSC House Cross Country will take place next Wednesday, the 27th of March, during periods five and six. Can all students please ensure they are prepared with the following:

  • Sports uniform or suitable attire in House colours
  • Runners

This is a great opportunity to be active with your friends. It doesn't matter if you run or walk, just get involved and earn some House points along the way!
