Senior Volleyball

On Friday the 15th of March, the senior students went to Daylesford Secondary College to compete in the Eureka Division Volleyball. Due to the recent fires and interruptions, the students hadn't had any practice, however still went in with a positive attitude and Sports Captain, Riley Burrill took the reins and led the Year 11 and 12s through some daunting games. The first game was against Mount Clear and we didn’t know what to expect. Although this was a winnable game, the team (due to a lack of practice) only started to find their rhythm towards the end of the game. With Ballarat High School up next, we knew it would be a tough game and we struggled to stay positive. Even with Lachie Fraser and Cooper Cahill trying to keep us in the game, we didn’t win a set.

 

The ever-strong Daylesford team was next, and with Riley Burrill's positive energy and Jasmine Poyser and Jacob Kellet continually returning serves we were able to stay in the game. Unfortunately we were still unable to take the win. Our final game against Phoenix College was a close game and despite the serving of Riley Doherty allowing us to score 6 straight serves, we still couldn't get a win on the board.

 

Although unable to walk away with a win, students should hold their heads high. Despite no training opportunities, they were able to keep games close and consistently represented the school to a high standard, resulting in praise from other schools.
